As autumn settles over Pembrokeshire, the arrival of Bonfire Night brings one of the most atmospheric evenings of the year. Across the county, communities come together for bonfires, fireworks, hot food and plenty of seasonal fun. From the big displays at Milford Haven and Broad Haven to smaller community celebrations closer to St Davids, there are plenty of ways to spend an evening beneath the November sky. For those staying on the St Davids Peninsula, our closest display is in the harbour village of Solva – a particularly lovely setting for an evening of fireworks, food and community spirit.

Solva Fireworks
For guests staying around St Davids, Solva is a natural choice for Bonfire Night. The village sits around a beautiful natural harbour, and when darkness falls, the combination of the water, surrounding hills and November night sky makes for a memorable setting.
The evening is about more than just the fireworks. Local traders and businesses come together to provide food, drinks and refreshments, with cider, hot food and sweet treats helping to keep everyone warm while they wait for the display. Previous events have seen the local pubs and traders busy throughout the evening, creating a real community atmosphere.
Importantly, Solva’s display is a community event, with donations and local support helping to fund the celebrations and support the wider community. It’s a lovely example of the way Pembrokeshire’s villages come together to put on events for both locals and visitors.

What to bring to Bonfire Night
November evenings on the Pembrokeshire coast can be chilly, so the golden rule is simple: wrap up warm. A good coat, hat, scarf and gloves will make all the difference, especially if you’re planning to arrive early and spend some time outside.
If you’re bringing children, glow sticks are a fun addition and make it much easier to keep an eye on little ones once the crowds gather and darkness falls.
A warm drink is also a good idea. Many of the local events have food and drink stalls or nearby pubs serving refreshments, but taking a flask of tea, coffee or hot chocolate means you can stay warm while waiting for the fireworks to begin.
