Muni and Marcus “Chipps” Ciappara ran Caerfarchell Studio Pottery for many years, before their daughter Rivka Ciappara-Brodie took over with new energy and continued at Caerfarchell until 2019, when she moved to a new studio. The Ciappara’s spent years perfecting unique frost-proof glazes that allow their creations to weather the harsh Welsh winters. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, lichen-like additions and forms reminiscent of coral lend their unique shapes to delicately implemented cloth, the texture of which is visible through the glaze and gives the work a tactile, living feeling.
