Coastal Heritage Walk from Twr y Felin Hotel

Step straight from the doors of Twr y Felin Hotel onto a circular coastal walk rich in history, wildlife and sweeping sea views. This scenic route takes in Caerfai Bay, St Non’s Chapel and Well, and St Davids Cathedral, before winding back through the heart of Britain’s smallest city and returning to the hotel.

Caerfai Bay

A beautiful, sheltered cove just outside the city, Caerfai Bay is known for its striking red sandstone cliffs, formed over 600 million years ago. The beach has long been a favourite with locals and visitors alike, offering peaceful views out towards Ramsey Island. Its dramatic geology makes it a fascinating starting point for your journey along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

St Non’s Chapel and Well

Perched above the cliffs are the evocative ruins of St Non’s Chapel, believed to mark the birthplace of Wales’ patron saint, St David, in the 6th century. According to legend, St Non gave birth here during a fierce storm. Nearby, St Non’s Well became a place of pilgrimage, thought to have healing properties. The site remains a place of quiet reflection, with breathtaking coastal views stretching across St Brides Bay.

St Davids Cathedral

Nestled in a valley just outside the city centre, St Davids Cathedral has been a place of pilgrimage for over 1,500 years. The present cathedral dates largely from the 12th century and became one of medieval Britain’s most important religious sites. Its impressive nave, intricate stonework and peaceful setting make it one of Wales’ most remarkable historic landmarks.

City of St Davids

After exploring the Cathedral, the walk continues through the charming streets of St Davids. Despite its city status, granted in the 12th century, it remains wonderfully small and full of character, with independent shops, galleries and cafés lining its streets.
