How did you get into surfing?

I used to play down the beach when I was younger. Seeing the surfers in the waves made me want to give it a go. My dad surfed a lot, and it inspired me to be like him. I started going to Phil’s surf lessons (Pembrokeshire surf school) around the age of 11. It was a bit of a late start, but I loved it so much that I started surfing consistently over the next couple of years.

What does it involve?

Surfing involves a lot of commitment. If you want to see progress in surfing, a lot of hours and enthusiasm is required. Surfing not only requires many hours in the sea but just as many on land. For example skate boarding, swimming and generally keeping fit. Over the last year I have started weight training in the gym and this massively improves m fitness and the skills needed in surfing. When swell comes in, I surf everyday, whenever I can. But when swell dies I often go to the wave in Bristol which really helps me keep focused and practice new moves.

What are your goals?

My goals are to become the Welsh champ for girls u18 and to work towards top 10 in Europe. I would like to get to the worlds and compete the QS when I turn 19.

My short term goals are to improve certain skills and work on my surfing with different techniques. My long term goals are to make it through to bigger competitions around the world.

How will this sponsorship support you?

Sponsorship will be a great boost to help me reach my goals, and I am really excited to have the opportunity to go on this surf camp in Morocco. Surfing in different waves and in a different place will help improve my surfing and give me new experiences, which will make me grow as a person. I’m hoping it will massively improve my surfing. Also, being able to go somewhere where there is consistent surf will make me see progress even quicker.
