Duration around 3 hours. Difficulty – Moderate
We start the coastal walk in the picturesque Lower Solva, often cited as one of the most beautiful villages in Britain. We follow the harbour wall, and there is a small cafe on the quay. We make our way up the hill, where there are some spectacular views back across the harbour. The walk passes Porth Y Rhaw, a small and pretty cove. We pass by Caerbwdi Bay, with its distinctive purple rocks used to build St Davids Cathedral, and end up at beautiful Caerfai Bay, which is only a short walk from the hotel.
Duration around 3 hours. Difficulty – Moderate
Caerfai Bay is only a short walk from the hotel, and the coastal walk begins here. We pass by the tiny St. Non’s Chapel and the birthplace of St. David’s on the way. The walk continues on to Porthclais, which has a lovely kiosk selling excellent coffee cakes and sandwiches. Depending on energy levels, we can either take the Celtic Coaster back to St Davids or walk back along a country lane.
Duration around 3 hours 25 minutes. Difficulty – Moderate
The Celtic Coaster drops us at Porthclais, where the coastal walk begins. Rugged coastal scenery, Porthlysgi beach, which is a stunning beach with no road access, so it is typically peaceful. The walk continues past Ramsey Island and the treacherous Ramsey Sound, where we may spot dolphins and porpoises if we are lucky. We finish at St Justinians, where the old and new lifeboat stations are based. We can visit the lifeboat station if that is of interest. The Celtic Coaster from Sr Justinians will drop us close to the hotel to complete the journey.
Duration around 2 hours 40 minutes. Difficulty – Moderate
Starting at St Justinians, this walk passes by the small sandy Porthselau beach, a great place for seabirds, and is one of the few beaches that is dog-friendly in peak season. We continue on to spectacular Whitesands Beach, an iconic beach famed for its surf and expansive sandy beach. There is a large beach cafe that does food and drink. There is also a sauna overlooking the beach that can be easily booked. A short walk along the cliffs takes us to Porthmelgan, which can only be accessed via the coastal path. Its remote location, surrounded by cliffs, makes this a peaceful stopover. Porthmelgan is also a popular wild-swimming location when the tides are agreeable. We make our way back to Whitesands Beach car park to pick up the Celtic Coaster and return to the hotel.
