Tir a Môr, Land and Sea Festival celebrates roots, resilience, and renewal from March 28th to 30th, 2025, in St Davids, Pembrokeshire.

14.00 The Cathedral and the Sea

Explore the Cathedral’s links to the sea and seafarers through the ages. A tour of the unseen places of St Davids Cathedral by Mari James of the Cathedral Library. Did you know the Cathedral has graffiti from grateful returning seafarers? That St Nicholas is the patron saint of sailors, as well as of children? From the 6th century when Dewi Sant, St David, and his followers would travel by sea rather than land, to the 200th anniversary of the RNLI.
Come and be enthralled at the stories the Cathedral has to tell.

17.00 The Sea! The Seaside!

Talk by Juliet Heslewood, author and art historian. How the sea and the seashore have been depicted throughout the history of art, from the Romans through to Rembrandt, Turner, Nolde, and to the work of our contemporary Pembrokeshire artist, Mike Perry.

A panel discussion with audience Q&A. What can we learn from our own past, and from best practice elsewhere, to help us produce more food from our own land, while giving nature room to thrive?

A climate and environment-focussed panel discussion with audience Q&A, looking at the future actions we can take for our sustainable future.

A family-friendly tour of our peninsula’s unique seafood and seaweed Community Benefit Society Farm. Learn about their journey, current activities and aspirations. Taste seaweed, see how it is harvested sustainably, and visit the shop with seaweed products and seafood available for purchase. Parking onsite.
