About Artist & Art Details

Surrealism forms a link between the subconscious or dream world and the unavoidable structure of human society with its greed and temptation for the soul. Driven by a passion for drawing, Marcelo had no formal training and was inspired by the encouragement of his Uncle. From his early years, his use of watercolours, pastels and coloured pencils took him to Chile, where he completed an art course at the Catholic University of Santiago. From here, his work has evolved with inspiration taken from the likes of Dali, Kahlo and Borda, to name a few. His work is described as whimsical, complex, absurd and surreal.
