About Artist & Art Details

Born and based in Los Angeles and active in the Southern California graffiti scene since the mid-nineties, BIPOC artist Augustine Kofie works in painting, collage and mural interventions. Kofie’s fine art practice draws together the languages of graffiti’s deconstructive lettering, mechanical drafting, modern architecture, and plunderphonics, creating a unique take on constructivist abstraction.

He takes a deep interest in process and structure, creating works of intense detail centring on order and tension. Mainly focused on modern architecture, his four large works, which now hang in the Oriel Lounge, represent the abstract elements of the local landscape and illustrate it through shape and colour.
